“Sound Going” opens up with a broad classic synth sound and a dark, brooding beat. The author reveals the paradox of the tortured artist and his need to feed his creative fires. He must catch his muse as it flies through the musical ether, seizing his inspiration before the moment is gone, and spirits away forever. As life goes on, and time complicates the soul, the yearning to make your mark becomes ever more crucial. But for those with the proper antenna, the act of creation is never in vain, and should be hefted with pride and never squandered. We must create to stay afloat.
lyrics
Born I was with the curse of Cadmus
Epistolarian, a serialist of everything I see
But as hard as I try I can never kill the dragons
The dragons they taunt me they won’t ever leave me be
Someone somewhere is laughing at me they’re laughing
For I dared to challenge your conventions I dare to break the mold
I can feel the stares of derision I think I’m cracking
Their eyes are cold I must try to get this out before I’m old
I’ve got to do something before the sound goes away
I’ve got to do something before the…
I can feel time clamoring at my doorstep it’s knocking
Breaking down defenses I carefully devised, and I fear
That the fucker’s gonna get the better of me it’s breaking
Through illusions and conceits I had fitfully contrived
I’ve got to do something before the sound goes away
I’ve got to do something before the…
How many things can I buy give up and take it back
Because nothing nothing in this world really comes with a guarantee
There’s far more layers in this life than I can ever hope to unpack
Believe me…
No one was more surprised than me
Just when I think the battle is joined I’m winning the fight
I was certain I had done my part I had cast the last stone
Something wakes me up in the middle of the night
I try to sleep try to sleep but my muse won’t leave me alone
I’ve got to do something before the sound goes away
I’ve got to do something before the…
